Pulling all nighters.

Tue Nov 17, 2009, 9:48 PM
I'm not up at this hour (5:39am) because I have a deadline, I simply cannot justify going to sleep when I am feeling at my most productive. Also I'm thinking that by putting off sleep until after tomorrow's (today's) lectures I might be able to kick my body clock back into a normal rythm.

In the mean time I am going to continue toying with ideas for my final year project. At the moment I am still amazed at just how often I go back to previously 'finished' areas of the design document and rework it completely. At this rate I can probably expect to be adding the finishing touches on the wrong side of my 40's. Still, I would rather keep chipping away at the damned thing now than arrive at the deadline and realise how ridiculous it sounds.

My problem at the moment is expressing my ideas visually. After spending so long rendering the terraformed Mars concept I now feel like the rest of the concept art deserves the same amount of attention - meaning I spend long enough to get the bare bones of an image down before finding myself moving on to something else out of boredom. I really don't have the patience to sit down and finish off any of my work and so I either end up rushing it or dropping it completely until a later date.

I'm going to have to change that. Looking back through my older work I can tell they look rushed and incomplete and although some of them might have the potential to develope into great images I find myself think 'Aw whatever, that'll do', which I hate.

The last thing I want for this project is for it to be as half-assed as the majority of my work up to this point - lets just hope that I don't get too distracted by other things and lose track of my objectives.

Devious Info

  • Current Residence: University of Teesside
  • Interests: Art, Film, Social, Music, Gaming (of course gaming)
  • Favourite band or musician: Breaking Benjamin
  • Favourite genre of music: Rock, I guess; Indi, Alt, Punk, etc... Even the odd chunk of metal.
  • Favourite artist: Burne Hogarth and Antonio Saint'elia. Study them and you'll know how to draw anything.
  • Favourite style of art: I guess it's sort of a cartoon realism, but I love photography too.
  • Operating System: Windows Vista
  • MP3 player of choice: The super-compact-easy-to-take-anywhere Desktop Computer. I'm not a fan of headphones.
  • Favourite cartoon character: Spiderman... but I also love those guys from Cyanide and Happiness.
  • Personal Quote: "A sketch says a lot more than a long speech" - Napoleon.
  • Tools of the Trade: HB pencil and a black biro. Then I just need a camera and photoshop.

I recognise your character from the 3df forum. I like the topology.
Its all over now and we can relax for the summer.

Yo man, thanx for swinging by.

I also notice your at Tees Uni (as am I), what course are you doing?

No problem. I have to say that I admired your "Stitches"; reminds me of a piece by Lucio Fontana.

Yeah - I went on a spree the other day trying to figure if there was anyone I knew on here. I'm pretty sure I know 'of' some people... Probably not well enough to just turn up on their page with a unnerving little "I know you".
That would be wierd.

Ranting aside I'm on the games design course.
How about yourself?
:iconthe-hiltz:
Thank you very much.... TBH it was a just a case of randomly doodling shit and that stood out amongst the doodles, to I decided to develop it a lil. Only took a few hrs to do.

Hahaha, me too, but I very rarely find people from Teeside, never mind people going to Uni, and those who I do find are usually in 2nd or 3rd year. So it's good to find someone who is doing (roughly) the same stuff I am and will be in most of my lectures too.

I'm on Creative Digital Media and my course is a mash between Games Art and Design. LOL, I really should be at 'History of games' right now..... Feh.

Yeah... I forgot to mention I'm second year - so you may have trouble spotting me in your lectures.
Either way you are on a similar course; I have a mate who does the same one (also second year) but essentially he does most of my modules anyway.
:iconthe-hiltz:
Ahhhh, that would explain a lot. ^^.... Still might have seen you around though, as I was here last year too doing 'Games Science' but changed courses at the end of last year. (I HATE PROGRAMMING WITH A PASSION).... What halls were you in? (if any)
